So, I made my yogurt- two batches as a matter of fact. One batch of whole milk yogurt for Zion and another batch of 1% for me. It worked! Both turned out really yummy - though the whole milk was thicker and more of and the consistancy of what one would get from the store. It has a great flavor and I'm already making more!
recipe:
4 cups milk
1/4 c plain yogurt
1/4 c nonfat powdered milk
heat milk until 180 degrees. Stir and let it heat slowly so it does not burn. Cool to 130 degrees, add powdered milk, add some warm milk to the yogurt, then add the yogurt and milk mixture to the milk. Cover and place in ice chest surrounded by blankets for about 5 hours.
